Top 5 Holiday Secrets with Kristi Helvig

Today's post if from Kristi Kelvig, author of Burn Out. For more information about Kristi and her books, click here.

The holidays are my fave time of the year for many reasons, so I thought I’d share my Top 5 Holiday Secrets with you.

Fave Holiday Drink: Coffee with Bailey’s Irish Cream. Yummmmmy!

Fave Holiday Tradition: finding creative things for our elf, Fred, to do each night and then watching the delight on the kids’ faces in the morning as they run around and try to find him. This might be the last year before our oldest catches on. This pic is when Fred crashed our gingerbread house and ate part of it.

Why I Love the Holidays: Aside from spending time with the family, I love, love, love getting to sleep past 6am for two whole weeks.

Favorite Book Gift in Childhood: Santa always left a book in each of our stockings, and I remember one year I was so excited to “catch” Santa that one of my sisters and I got up at 3am. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott was in my stocking and I curled up on the couch and started reading. It quickly became my favorite childhood book.

Best Gift I Ever Gave: when we were first married, I accidentally let it ‘slip’ that my hubby’s gift was from a nearby store called The Lightbulb Store. It was aptly named as it only sold lightbulbs, lamps, etc. I’d actually gotten him the new Zelda video game that I knew he’d been coveting. The look on his face when he opened the box and saw Zelda instead of a lightbulb was priceless.

  2. Love your destructive elf, lol! I've only ever heard of those elves being nice... and love the misdirection with hubby's gift.... no wonder you got an elf-on-the-shelf that likes a little mischief!
