To celebrate the holidays, the authors at Darkly Delicious YA are dishing about what we love (and hate) about the holidays. To kick us off we have Kelly Hashway, author of Touch of Death Series, Into the Fire, and The Monster Within. Click here to learn more about Kelly and her work.
Favorite Holiday Drink: I’m a lightweight so I prefer to
drink those sparkling ciders in every flavor imaginable. Sparkling peach may be
my favorite. I’ll drink the entire bottle myself.
Favorite Holiday Movie/Book (and why): Each year, I
watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas EVERY
time it’s on TV. I also own it on DVD, which is why I can recite all the words
and totally annoy my husband and daughter. ;) I just love that Grinch, even when
he’s been being mean. Plus, you can’t beat the sound track. You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch is a
classic! But I admit I did not like the Jim Carrey version. Sorry, Jim. I think
you’re great, but the cartoon Grinch wins hands down.
My Holiday Wish for the World: As pageanty as it sounds,
world peace. Seriously. I hate having to worry about what the world will be
like when my daughter grows up. I prefer horror to remain in works of fiction.
Favorite/Worst Holiday Tradition: I love driving around to
look at all the Christmas lights. It’s beautiful. On the other hand, I hate
sending Christmas cards. I know I sound like the Grinch, but if you knew how
often my family and friends change their addresses, you’d understand. I have to
double-check everyone’s address before I can send out the cards and I still get
some returned.
Favorite Holiday Treat: My mom makes the world’s best
Christmas biscotti. I eat them for breakfast for the days following Christmas
until they’re gone. ;)
I always enjoy the Grinch too. It's one of my favorites. And I'm with you on Christmas cards. Each year I receive less and I'm sure it's because my friends and family just aren't sending them.
ReplyDeleteI've gotten blank ones because the sender forgot to fill them out. That's hating to write out cards right there. ;)
DeleteChristmas biscotti sounds like a wonderful Christmas tradition! Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteIt's sooooo good. :)
DeleteOh, I enjoy those sparkling ciders, too! But I've never tried peach. I will look for it ...
ReplyDeleteYou should. It's awesome!
DeleteWorld peace! Yes! I always love the Grinch too! Great list, Kelly. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Heather!
DeleteI love the lights too. I've never tried peach cider. Sounds yum.
ReplyDeleteVery yum.
DeleteThe Grinch rocks.
ReplyDeleteI found myself nodding and say, "Yes, me too!" The lines from the Grinch song crack me up. Love to sing in that deep bass tone. :)
ReplyDeletelol You kind of have to sing it in the deep bass. ;)
DeleteI too hate sending holiday cards! Not the spirit of it, of course...more the manual labor. Plus, I'm never convinced anyone really cares if they get one, not unless there is a personal photo included!
ReplyDeleteYes, all about hating the manual labor of it.
DeleteAwesome post. I miss driving around looking at Christmas lights. They just don't "do up" Christmas the same here in Germany. ;)
ReplyDeleteAw. :(
DeleteI vote for world peace, too :)
ReplyDeleteMail me a biscotti. Bahahaha
ReplyDeleteMail me a biscotti. Bahahaha
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteI agree on World Peace. So much drama right now in the world. It would be nice if we could all just get along. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, it would.
DeleteYou know, I haven't watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas yet, but I've really been meaning to. Maybe this year. ;-)
ReplyDeleteOMG, Kate! You HAVE to! Seriously! Go. It's probably on now. It's on all the time. ;)
