What I Love About the Holidays by Cherie Colyer

With us today is Cherie Colyer, author of Embrace and Hold Tight. You can learn more about Cherie and her books by clicking here.

Why I Love the Holidays: Where do I start? The decorations, the lights, snow globes and every other trinket that winds up and plays a song, warm gooey chocolate chip cookies, finding the perfect gift for someone and seeing their face when they open it,  watching my favorite Christmas movies, the list goes on. But most of all, I love spending time with family.

Favorite Holiday Drink: Ever since I can remember my parents have made glug at Christmas. It’s a mix of wine, raisins, cinnamon, and I’m not sure what else. It’s delicious and the first thing I go for once I tuck the presents under the tree.

Favorite Holiday Movie: I’m a bit old fashion on this one, but I love White Christmas with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. I love the dancing, the friendships, and how everyone comes together to save the inn.

My Holiday Wish for the World: I wish and pray that everyone across the global would get along, that prejudice and bullying would cease to exist, and that the economy rebounds. I know that sounds cliché, but I want the world to be a better place for my boys.

Favorite Holiday Tradition: Each year my mom, sister, and I go shopping. When our boys were little, the trunk of the car would be jammed packed with toys and gifts for the family. Everyone’s older now, so the size of the gifts are smaller and it takes us less time to actually shop, but that’s okay. We now have more time for chatting and lunch. =)

What do you like about this time of year?

  1. Glug! Sounds yummy, but I'd be afraid I'd choke on a raisin!

  4. My favorite song from White Christmas (especially with having 3 daughters) is Sisters, Sisters. So cute1 We love shopping downtown together and having a special lunch in Water Tower - wouldn't be Christmas without that!

  5. That holiday drink sounds awesome, except I can't have the wine. *settles for raisins and cinnamon*
